GameStop logo - Image 1Kotaku reports that an anonymous tipster from GameStop had dropped word that GameStop/EB is planning on revisiting their PS3 trade-in deal. Just in case you have already forgotten how this goes, what happens is you trade in your fully-functioning PS2 with cables and controllers, and an eight MB PS2 memory card so that you will have a $ 100 off from your PS3 purchase.

Well, if you're short on funds and you really want to buy a PS3, then maybe this deal will work for you. But if you do not want to part with your PS2 and you still want to revisit the PS2 games you spend countless of hours completing, then we guess you'd have to shell out quite a hefty sum of money for you to have a PS3.

But of course, nothing is still official. We would be awaiting for GameStop's official word on this matter and will update you accordingly as soon as more info comes our way. And if somebody out there could verify this, please tell us all about it, alrighty?

It is true. I work at EBgames in Hawthorne CAlifornia and we started the promo just this past monday. NOt too sure how long its going for. But its a PS2 a Sony bradn * meg memory card and a second SOny brand controller u have to trade in. Usually Trades in for about $50 all together but this is a good deal to knock off some bucks for the system. And any other trades as well. Get that discount card and your gonna do really good.

 » Promotion Details

I'm a manager with EB Games and yes the promotion has started back. BUT the only thing that has to be Sony branded is the additional controller.

The promotion reads as follows...

Trade in a working PS2 (with one controller ANY brand and the hookups), a second Sony branded controller, and ANY brand memory card and you will get 100 bucks towards the purchase of a PS3. This promotion ONLY works if you plan on buying a PS3 on the same transaction as the trade in.

You can get a PS3 for $100 cheaper on ebay, without trading in an old PS2 and accessories worth more than that.
I'd personally much rather have the PS2 and $500 than a POS3 with no games (included or available.)

 » Grabbed mine last week...

I had a deal at ebgames...

I gave 10 games worth more than 8$ each (canadian) and they cut 300$ off a PS3.

so I bought it for 399$!!

grand total of 455$ also got Motorstorm for 2 other games more than 8$. the guy told me that if I had traded in my PS2 I'd have saved another 100$.
