The PS3 is a total disaster on so many levels, I think It's really clear that Sony lost track of what customers and what developers wanted. I'd say, even at this late date, they should just cancel it and do a "do over". Just say, "This was a horrible disaster and we're sorry and we’re going to stop selling this and stop trying to convince people to develop for it". The happy story is the Wii. I'm betting that by Christmas of next year, the Wii has a larger installed base than the 360. Other people think I’m crazy. I really like everything that Nintendo is doing. |

There have been two (count them) other posts saying what you just said, and they both were answered refuting exactly what you are trying to promote. EA is porting the PC game over to consoles, not the creators themselves. Pay attention nimrod.
It's EA's decision whether or not to port it to the Wii or not, not Valve's. That means that Valve can praise any system they want and not be biased about their releases console wise. Just because a 3rd party is porting a game from the PC doesn't mean Valve doesn't want to make games or port over to the Wii either.

This was an article released long ago stating the source engine is being adapted for Multi-Core platforms.
The devs on the Source engine like multi-core processors since you can do more with more power.
This can easily be adopted to take advantage of the Cell processors since from this article, the source engine is taking full control of the cores which is what Cell is all about.
I am surprised no one brought this up earlier, because this clearly puts the PS3 in a better position with the source engine then the Xbox360.

the 360 actually has 3 cores that can be used for anything, and it doesn't require insane amounts of coding to get the best out of them.

I own a PS3 and Wii currently launch games are always bad but give it time and the system rep will grow.
There alot of really good games coming to PS3 this year that I think would set it back on course so patience is everything. Same thing for the Wii.

Im not so sure why people are so happy about the Wii. I bought one on launch day and bought Rayman to play with my girlfriend. Id have to say it was ok, but I miss conventional gameplay. Currently my PS2 gets more attention than my Wii. I also am planning on buying a PS3, why? I want the whole package it offers, (bluray discs, media server capabilities, Final Fantasy, Devil May Cry, MGS) I see it as better than 360. I, however, see Wii in a COMPLETELY different category than 360 and PS3. When I play a conventional game, I experience one thing, when I play Wii, it's almost like a whole different form of entertainment. Like listening to music and watching videos. For use as a conventional gaming system I give the Wii a C+. For innovation and overall entertainment it's an A. My main concern is burnout from the Wiimote. I cant play longer than an hour or so without getting bored of FPS games aiming out of control, and flailing about as I try to control things. This is just my two cents, but I think people will feel the same in the future. Wii will be very successful, but I fear it will become novelty without more stability in the technology.

It's like going biking or summit, its great fun, but you will get tired after a while, but will still jump back on yer bike the next day.
I'm hooked into zelda ATM and am dreading the day that I complete it. I'll just start over again more than likely. I wont be buying a ps3 as I hardly played my ps2 so whats the point?

I love my PS2, but I love it for the games, which means the only reason I would ever consider buying a PS3 would be MGS4 and God of War 2. But since I found out GoW2 is for PS2, I'm not going to spend 600 to play 1-2 good games. We can throw around numbers, but in the end it all just means that the only difference between PS3 and PS2 is graphics(if you have the right television).Graphics are important to me, but not 0 important. There's also the higher disc space, which is a big deal, but I'd like to see how much of it developers'll use first.
As for the Wii, which I did buy, people like it for the games. I personally like all consoles. The Xbox 360 has some amazing online, and an already well developed library of games. The Wii's an incredible console in every way. from the Wii mote, to the awesome design of the console it self. I myself own a PS3, and I love it. The NY times, nor Gabe can change my mind. The PS3 will get good games, but we just have to wait.
However, what I do find pathetic is the amount of fanboys posting. Honestly, for those who say it "sucks" have you honestly even played one. Some have, but I gurantee you a good amount of people who judge it haven't even played one. So, how would you know? Just because you don't have one you must bash it? That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. All in all, all three are great. give them a try, you might actually ENJOY the console instead of bashing it.

we could just forget bout the one good game id like to try (R:FOM) and look at what the console can do and what it does that we dont want it to (crash) i have only had 2 freezes on the gamecube( on metroid prime because i moved too fast through the tunnels and it could not keep up.) and 1 on wii. why it happend on the wii i dont know but i have 1 friend who said it has crashed 10 times already. I also look at its originality. Xbox mad it clear they were goin for graphics but within a resonable price range, and online gameplay. Wii was online in other ways like weather and stuff, aswell as gameplay, and very hopefully online play as well. Ps3....well make gameplay less fun ( only a tilt sensor, no rumble or pointing.) a online that doesnt even seem to be there ( ive never heard of a ps live or anythin.) Graphics that they tried too much at and had to put 200$ more just to have 100 pixles more, and a system that could be mustaken as a frying pan, because it gets so warm while running. Honestly i havent tried one, but i aint gona buy one (or tollerate ppl who post on another console blog) and just say meh.
al in all wii is doing great xbox 360 has a good start and ps3 is moving gamers away from gaming to blue ray and other useless crap that we cant afford.
