Mass Effect hot alien babe - Image 1Fox News responded to Electronic Arts' letter about the recent report  that incorrectly portrayed developer BioWare's role-playing game Mass Effect as "a new video game that shows full digital nudity." However, Fox News producer Teri VanHorn's reply to EA vice president of communications Jeff Brown wasn't near as substantial as what the giant publisher dished out. In fact, Brown said he was only told through a BlackBerry message to contact the news network's public relations department.

According to GameDaily BIZ, Brown confirmed that EA won't back down even after Fox News took lightly of its request to correct the misconceptions made public pertaining to Mass Effect's content. Brown does realize that Fox may just ignore the topic and move on to the next, but he said EA is not giving up. He explained, "It really stinks for the people who made the game, but I don't think they should be waiting for a correction from Fox."

EA's VP gave a few more reasons why EA does not intend to stand back. Quoting what Brown told GameDaily:

EA is under new management now and [EA CEO] Riccitiello's made it clear that we're going to stand up for our creative teams and the games they make. We're going to fight back. There's a lot of nonsense about gaming coming out of politics, government and media – John wants us to start calling them out on it.

Something EA does I can stand behind. The gaming industry needs to stand up for itself with all the crap the media is spewing these days.

 » Good on EA.

It's not often I say that, but I'm glad a major contributor in the industry is putting their foot down.

Now if only more developers and publishers would do the same (regardless of whether or not their company worked on a particular title).

Now there's an oxymoron if I ever heard one. Fox doesn't report news so much as they spew forth whatever crap is shoveled into them in an effort to get someone to pay attention to them for even a short while.
