Electronic Arts acquires BioWare and Pandemic Studios - Image 1Electronic Arts has just sent out a news feeler stating that it has acquired VG Holding Corp, the parent company for BioWare Corp. and Pandemic Studios. You guys may remember BioWare for their upcoming Xbox 360 title, Mass Effect, while you'll most probably remember Pandemic for their ingoing work on Mercenaries 2: World in Flames for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC. EA CEO John Riccitiello had this to say regarding the acquisition of both studios:

These are two of the most respected studios in the industry and I’m glad to be working with them again. They’ll make a strong contribution to our strategic growth initiatives on quality, online gaming and developing new intellectual properties. We also expect this will drive long-term value for our shareholders.

EA will reportedly pay up to US$ 620 million to VG Holding Corp.'s stockholders over this transaction, with a further $155 million in equity to be issued to certain employees of the company. The transaction is scheduled to close by January next year.

In line with this announcement, EA is also scheduling the transaction's conference call for today, at 2:00 pm Pacific time, and 5:00 pm Eastern time. EA will also be holding its second quarter conference call this November 1. The company plans to release its results for the second quarter of fiscal year 2008 during the said conference.

I liked bioware alone, I wonder if their games will suffer from the EA suppremacy... Or maybe EA could get them more devs so their games would be even better? And for pandemic, I never played one of their games so...

Horrah, two more companies for the crap-ware conglomerate to rape and exploit, not to mention to destroy.

EA never really could come up with anything truely unique to captivate their audiences on their own, hence why they cheat and buy out companies to exploit their gaming titles. Seriously, I'd like to find that radioactive gameshark they're using and disconnect it.

Might as well sit back and watch as these titles fall apart one by one to half-assed coding due to insanely rushed release dates. Face it, EA has the largest reputation for releasing buggy and/or *****ty games.

Not to bring C&C 3 into this discussion, but its an excellent example for another viewpoint. C&C 3, at its initial release, was a pretty fun game. Give a couple good ol' fashioned EA patch-*****s and you got hampered gameplay, gotta love it. Poor westwood... *salutes the original name*.

I also heard that one football game, what was it... Madden 08? was more along the lines of "buggy beta" rather than the supposed "official release" it was intended to be. Once again, let us say it, "Hail EA, the copy-paste ***** conglomerate of the world".

Whats innocent company is next in line for this pacman portrayed "nom nom" machine? Not like it'd happen, but we cannot doubt that almighty Gameshark of theirs; I'd say Blizzard. Oh god could you imagine it? WoW Football! Only it has nothing to do with WoW, simply due to the fact that ever ingame model is a giant square of misdirected, pixelated Binary.

"K... So I want 10100101010010101010101001010101010101010101010 to attempt a pass. I want everyone nearby 1011010101101010001 to make sure he gets the ball. Don't let those f*bleep*ers from 110101010100100000010101111 even get close to 1011010101101010001... Oh yeah, and lololololololol*smileyface*lololzors."

Alright... back on track. what I am trying to say, EA's gonna destroy these companies and their games, mark my words.

Also, sorry if I sounded like an idiot in various parts of my thoughts, I'm merely trying to emulate an EA spokesperson, err, I mean, puppet... *backspaces* to the best of my abilities.
