Feel a need for speed?

Whether it's on land, air, or water, some people just crave the adrenaline rush and the wind sheer when going at insane speeds. Here's an homage to the fastest civilian vehicles you can get to reach that speed high.

On land: Bugatti Veyron 16.4

It's the fastest and most powerful street legal car in the world. This supercar has 10 radiators, 16 cylinders, and a 7-speed dual clutch. It can go up to more than 400 kph (an insane 407.5 kph to be exact or 253.2 mph).

Breakneck subsonic speeds requires a special key. Upon activation, the car lowers to be more aerodynamic and the spoiler retracts to reduce air friction. It's W16 engine is capable of getting up to 1,000 horsepower, taking it from zero to 60 in 2.5 seconds. With the pedal to the metal full throttle, this two-ton, mid four wheel drive coupe can guzzle up its full tank of gas in 12 minutes or 80 kilometers (just under 50 miles).

Last year, 300 of these beauties from Bugatti Automobiles SAS have been going up for sale at just under US$ 1.5 million.

On air: Cessna Citation X

This is the fastest civilian aircraft, clocking in at Mach 0.92 (about 587 mph). This business jet aircraft can go up to 43,000 feet and can take passengers from coast to coast - New York to LA - before you can get jet lag (just over 4 hours). It's fuel efficient as it consumes as much fuel at Mach 0.9 as its competitors do at Mach 0.8.

At present, the Cessna Aircraft Company has produced 250 of these, selling at US$ 20 million.

On water: 118 WallyPower

This is an exception as it is not the fastest boat in production, but this is probably the fastest considering its size. It can squeeze 16,800 horsepower out of its three Vericor gas turbines and Rolls Royce Kamewa water jet. The 118 Wallypower is a real fuel guzzler as it can burn 14 gallons per minute at top speed of 60 knots (or 110 kph - 70 mph). Fuel capacity is 5,812 gallons so at top speed you'll burn a full tank of gas in about seven hours at sea.

This will cost you just under US$ 25 million.

Fantastic engineering. I heard they are selling them at a loss as they cost lots of money to build. If i had the money i'd buy one.

Yeah that car is that fast. the first time I saw a picture of it was like 6 years ago at a car show, I've been waiting for it to come out. Only problem is I'm about 1,499,990 dollars short, any loan officers out there.
