Well as the title implies, within a ridiculously short time from from Sony's 3.00 Firmware release we were welcomed by 3.01 Firmware. Naturally everyone assumed that this was a small patch. Paired releases were somewhat common in the past, so it only made sense that they left a little hole that needed immediate patching. Really now Sony, is homebrew worth constantly wasting energy on this type of blockade?

Noobz must have our collective backs as they have whipped out a firmware dumper and decrypter for BOTH the new 3.00 and 3.01 PSP Firmwares. This handy application that was released only moments ago enables dumping of "all known firmware update PSARs" by a modified version of PSPPet's PSARDumper.

This amazing feat, achieved only a day after 3.01 was released, and two days after 3.00 hit the streets homebrew enthusiasts have to wonder, "Is Sony still trying...?". Now we have gained access to the new firmware files, one could guess that an updated version of Devhook supporting 3.00 / 3.01 Firmware emulation could be in our near future.

IMO, the reason why 2.80 was decrypted, but never emulated is because Sony was probably waiting to see wether the hackers are going to crack 2.8 or not... I don't think 3.00 has so much better protection than 2.80 but then again, I don't know too much about that stuff so I'm not the one to judge...
Let's wait and keep our fingers crossed for the emulation...

booster hasnt gone anywhere. if u guys read the dark alex interview, you wouldve seen that booster has tried to get devhook to run with 2.8 but it isnt stable enough to work properly. he hasnt left the scene

Now that 3.0 and 3.01 has been released hopefully Devhook can now catch up.

It just goes to show, Sony knew about 2.80+ being devhooked in beta stages, and didn't bother to change anything, so now we know Sony don't care about emulation can't we get up to date?

Booster is gone, that's for sure. After I read about how he received a nasty "cease and decist" (spelling, who cares) from Sony, he disappeared. However, knowing hackers, he's still here and very much at work under a new name. That's just my theory. Also, does anybody remember when some dev was developing a PS1 emulator and suddenly stopped and said they were working with a PSP company and there were big surprises ahead? I hate seeing hackers sell out.

Answer inaccurate; Sony got pwnd serveral times when it comes to 1.51 + 1.52.
First by MPH, then by SXT, then by Booster.
These where also the FWs that where easily bypassed when it comes to the FW required to play a game.
In shorter words, Sony got bent over :D

if someone gets homebrew on 3.00 without making custom FW then TA-082 users can enjoy homebrew which would increase psp sales again (maybe not by much but still) thats my theory.

i compleyly agree with you sony probobly just wants to sell more psps and i think they just may but i think we can do better thatn devhooking and staying on 1.5 i think if we try hard enough we can get emus and homebrew to run as pa1 games and eliminater the need for a downgrader or a dev hook or even a hack exploit of course this means someone will need to mod the snes emu to work on it seeing as they broke up

My theory is that sony sees the psp homebrew scene and wants more people to join it so they secretly have been leaving bugs open for more BIG news so the boards go overide and more people see about homebrew getting into games and such and telling and showing there friends and they buy psps cuase they can play mario on it and they just looove mario then they tell there friends and keeps going round the world. This also helps sony becuse all of the nintendo ( There competetor ) ROMs are and emus are realeased. And for there own ps1 there release a emu of there ps1 and will make a small bug in 3.0/3.01, and theat is my theory.
