Diablo MMO rumors abound as Blizzard announces Worldwide Invitational 08 - Image 1As you all know, Blizzard has already sent out details regarding this year's Worldwide Invitational. Accordingly, it will be held at the Porte de Versailles Exposition Center, Paris, France from June 28 to 29.

But more than the event itself, fans are now beginning to speculate that this year's event is going to be as big, if not bigger than the one Blizzard held last year.

Rumors are now circulating once more regarding new games from the company. It should be remembered that it was during Worldwide Invitational 07 that Blizzard has announced the much-awaited StarCraft II.

With Wrath of the Lich King also being prepped up for World of Warcraft, the only remaining title to complete Blizzard's charmed circle is Diablo. Prior to all these, there have already been rumors speculating that the Diablo universe will finally go online.

This was further heightened when Blizzard publicly announced that it's looking for staff to lead the development of a secret MMO project. Blizzard, as you all know, has remained tight-lipped regarding the whole thing.

We all probably have to wait until June to find out what's still up the company's sleeves.

I say it's the reemergence of this title. Blizzard already said that they might revisit it in the future, but since they were focusing on WoW and StarCraft 2, they didn't want to hurt the final quality of the game (as you can see from most, if not all of their titles, they're really high quality). We'll have to wait and see, though.

Karuto mentions the possibility of StarCraft Ghost, and while that would be cool, I'm still holding out for Diablo III. I absolutely love the Diablo games, and have played them obsessively at times. I don't think an MMO is really necessary, as the Battle.Net system they have in place for Diablo II works great, and has done so for years. Plus, a Diablo MMO seems to me a little too similar to their already much established WoW franchise.

In any case, I look forward to seeing what Blizzard will bring forth next, as their games are pretty much all incredible.

Diablo III, hmmm. MMO, hmmm, I would sure like to see that one. WoW is too cartoonish, and anyway my choice of MMO's is GuildWars, much better, and don't have to pay a monthly server fee. But I would think about it for DIII.
