Nintendo Wii logo - Image 1Those of you who were excited about the Wii Loader project that Waninkoko was working on will be greatly disappointed. A recent announcement posted on the developer's site stated that the homebrew application has officially been abandoned.

The reason behind this is that a backup copy of the Loader was leaked to the public, causing the developer to drop the project. This is definitely a sad day for the many members in the homebrew community who have been clamoring for a homebrew loader which can run Wii ISOs.

For now we can only cross our fingers and hope that someone else might pick up on this project and complete it. Either way, we'll be sure to keep our eyes out for any updates regarding this or any similar homebrew projects.

Darn, that wrecked it for a lot of people. I personally hate using my games. I'll buy the game, but I hate getting it wrecked. I buy the games and burn the games. Backups are disposable.

Don't mean to sound aggressive but why would a leak cause someone to drop a project?

 » Frustration

As a programmer myself I would hate if one of my projects got out before it was finished because you don't know what it will do to other people's machines (i.e. brick them) so this can be a huge frustration just because your name is on it and people will blame you for their problems.
Waninkoko, I feel for you and I hope this doesn't detour you from working on other projects as your influence on the homebrew community for the wii is invaluable.

 » i gotta agree

seriously. this guy is going to drop the project because ONE PERSON leaked it prematurely? I understand what you're saying Tsukisan, but really, its kind of silly to make everyone pay because ONE PERSON made a bad decision. its not like the entire Wii homebrew community did this- it was ONE PERSON. ONE.

I think that waninkoko will probably realized this and when the anger wears off, pick it up again. and i hope he finds new beta testers this time....

Should have been more carefull as to who to gvie the Beta versions too.

I sorta agree with you. Supposably Waninkoko was just giving out the beta to anyone who sent him an email asking him if they could test it.

Hmmm, truly a betrayal by the homebrew community. On the other hand, no Wii iso loader, HaHaHaHaHaHaHaHa!

Victory is mine!

Since nintendo's wii games are so horrible and overpriced, an iso loader or modchip is the only thing that could make playing these games worthwhile. Victory is for the modchip makers!

i hate the ass that leaked it, damnit i REALLY wanted a backup loader!

oh well:(

 » just mod it then

if you can't find anyone locally you can always send it out. Or just get a modded from eBay. If you can afford to buy games to back them up you sure can afford to mod it.

 » WTF!?!?!?!?!

This guy is nothing but a cry baby and fool. The leak is completely his own fault then he quits the project like some sort of temper tantrum?

Sure, it's his project and he can quit if he wants but the REASON as to why he's quitting is just plan ridiculous.

He has no one to blame but himself.

 » calm down

maybe you should rethink how you deal with people. instead of calling names and getting excited, why not just understand that the guy is angry, and encourage him to change his mind? i don't disagree with your sentiment, but i understand that the guy has a right to be angry. i just hope he gets better beta testers next go around...

1. Because I don't support piracy.

2. Someone who gets MAD at HIMSELF then punishes others for it is an idiot.....and a fool.

 » There's still hope...

Supposably Waninkoko is reconsidering the cancellation, because he realises that the leak was half of his fault.

What if Teamtwweezzers or whatever did it to prevent a final release... if so good on them.
