Devhook v0.46

A new day and a new version of DevHook awaits us. First, a big reminder: This doesn't emulate firmware 2.80. Get that out of your mind. Second, about the news you've been reading on other sites: NO, 2.80 isn't decrypted, just extracted. Anyways, on with the update about Devhook.

The new version has a few major changes. And who better than Jeff Chen to get it translated! Here's a whole list of new updates:
  • Implemented the function for combining Flash emulation from the Memory Stick and the internal flashROM of the PSP
  • Countermeasure for Memory Stick file damaging bug
  • Fixed the problem that prevents returning from FW 2.XX to normal FW
  • Now forbids mounting "flash0:" in write mode
  • Major changes to the launcher menu
  • English launcher changed back to the original alphabetic folder
  • Added management functions for built-in FlashROM to the launcher (no function for installing into MS)
  • Added the auto launch time setting for the launcher > See "MS_ROOT/dh/autorun.ini".
  • Added the application for exiting from inside FW2.XX DevHook.
  • Added "umdciso_P47_SS_2000.prx" to resolve the problem the comma dropping problem of ciso. The setting is now like PRIORITY=47 , SHORT SLEEP,ciso buf=0x2000. Just replace the file "umdciso.prx"
One thing to note is that this version allows you to flash a part of the dump onto the PSP's flash, making emulation faster. But since the usage is still a grey area, I'd recommend you guys to not try it out, especially if you're using a custom firmware. We'll know more about it in the days to come...

Booster has also released the Devhook SDK, so if you want to contribute to the development of devhook, you can start as soon as you want! You don't need to use the SDK if you just want to emulate firmwares. The SDK is just for developers.

 » back to 1.5

hi, is there a possibility to get out of emulated 2.71 back to 1.50 without power off the psp?

» Yes, exiting 2.xx is possible

There are modded versions of 0.45 out there wich alow you to exit 2.xx firmware by pressing 'home' + 'start'

I am a bit scared of the 0.46 version cause of the Flash writing option ^^

Flashin is optional and works fine. I'm not sure how much space custom firmwares take, but I'd approach the method with caution if you have one installed.

 » boogahpoops

no games require 2.8 yet

and there are no major updates in 2.80

 » Flash is Optional

the flashing is just to make emulation faster
which is completly optional
if you don't select it, it won't flash anything

Get ThemePSP

It can mod DevHook firmwares. However if your talking about your 1.5 changes? They wont be effected

I thought it required 2.7. It's strange if it requires 2.8........especially when the *****ing game is released before the firmware. Way to go.

 » EU

"But since the usage is still a grey area, I'd recommend you guys to not try it out, especially if you're using a custom firmware. We'll know more about it in the days to come..."

Booster said precisally the contrary!! It is recommended to have a custom firmware to have a way of recovery mode.
Once again pspupdates wins in CONFUSSING users.

 » Probs with Reboot App

Is it just me or are other people not going back to 1.5 when using the exit devhook app. I put the 1.5 reboot.bin in dh/kd/
so i dunno why its not workin.

 » Re:#22

The Tekken UMD contains the 2.71 update but the game only requires 2.6. I have checked the Jap and US realeases and they both only need 2.6 fw so i think the EU release would be the same.

 » great work

Much respect to the devs of the program, but until a game comes out that requires 2.8 firmware (which will be a while) and it is implemented I don't need this. This version does not have any advantages for me as I really ain't into flashing my psp with all these little firmware things. Also the emulation of the firmware didn't seem to be slow to me. Since I use my psp for games (not isos) and homebrew the .44 version works just fine for me. But keep up the great work guys you are amazing

 » psp-hacks says different about 2.8 decrypted

Looking on PSP-hacks it would appear that 2.8 IS decrypted. I like the sound of the RSS video feeds more than I like RSS mp3 and it would be a nice addition for DH4.7 :D
