DSO ScreenshotI was shocked today as I stumbled into DragonMinded's IRC channel for DSOrganize and reading the title. Today he has announced that support for the M3/G6 flashcarts has been dropped due to compatibility issues and unwanted stress. This is completely understandable as there are several different types of flashcarts, each of which usually require a different build of DSOrganize due to read/write issues.

As of right now, DSOrganize works on most flashcarts, even M3 flashcarts. However, future versions may not as support for the line of flashcarts is being dropped. The man is a well respected coder, and he makes well respected decisions. Here's part of what he had to say -

I know that this sounds very rash, but I am starting to get tired of working on DSOrganize due to all the stress of keeping multiple releases and constantly trying to fix things not related to my code. I hope you all understand.

I wonder... would he at least be able to release a source, that way at least other coders could make it compatable

If he dosn't at least release the source then screw him, I have both an M3 and G6, and am not going to carry around my GBAMP just 'cos he can't be bothered. At least release the source. I've lost all faith in this hopeless coder now.

The guy is coding in his own time and benefit, not for profit. If he doesnt have an M3, why the heck should he add support for it? And simply because someone else (you) has an M3/G6 (which imho has shoddy homebrew support to begin with, unless you run it from moonshell), why would you think that is an excuse to all of a sudden release his private code?

As to demanding source... its pretty much what he is doing from M3/G6. If they gave actual source, it shouldnt be an issue to re-add M3/G6 back. Go bug them instead of Dragon.

I personally dropped M3 from any fat lib stuff I code, for the simple fact it takes alot longer to make it compatible with their method of loading homebrew. And I own one.

Well, if there is no homebrew I can run on my m3, I guess I will will be forced to only run commercial roms. I love homebrew though.

And I am sure the m3 team would assist homebrew devs with making apps compatible. I know they are fans of homebrew and cooperate to keep moonshell compatible.

Then where's the source code >_>

Well, DSOrganize plays MP3, I guess he's using libMAD (as does moonshell). If that's true, he _has_ to give you the source, because libMAD is GPL, so every libMAD based app has also to be GPL!
I don't think he has coded his own MP3 lib and i don't know any *BSD like licenced / not commercial MP3 lib...
