It is the year 2019.  A big muther of an asteroid crashes down somewhere in the vicinity of North Korea. The North Korean Government seals off the crash site to monopolize the mysteries of the asteroid. The United States, post-Bush but still pissed at the NKs, sends an elite team of Delta Force Operators to check on what the heck is going. Suddenly, like the legendary Trojan Horse, a 2km high alien ship emerges from the asteroid. The alien alters the global weather system (aren't we doing that ourselves right now?). The invasion of Earth (and the game) has begun. Sounds interesting, eh?  

The game, from Electronic Arts, uses Crytek's proprietary engine CryENGINE 2 (the demo made quite a stir at the recent GDC 06) and should be available soon.  Meanwhile, you can view the GDC 06 demo here.
