Ó

imagine this packaged and in a neat-o-can...The Coca-Cola Company has just announced that they will be introducing a green-tea drink called Enviga to the market, and they claim that the beverage has been proven to burn calories.

Coke says the drink is a joint venture with Nestle, and that their new Enviga baby could burn around 60 to 100 calories with three 12-ounce servings. The drink is said to contain calcium, caffeine, and a green tea extract known as epigallocetachin gallate. The extract should speed up metabolism and increase energy use, most especially when combined with caffeine. Overclocked hamsters somehow comes to mind.

Anyway, Coca-Cola claims that the Nestle Research Center in Lausanne, Switzerland, have been studying the properties and benefits of green tea's antioxidant EGCG (epigallocetachin gallate) for years. EGCG by the way is a naturally occurring antioxidant in tea, including green tea. Coke says that Enviga provides 90mg of EGCG in each serving, along with 20 percent of the daily value for calcium. Coke says that the product is set to hit markets nationwide by January.

Perhaps we should just follow Jean Luc Picard's example and just drink Earl Grey regularly. That or maybe we should just adopt "tea time". I mean, even Vogons stop building Intergalactic Bypasses just for tea time, we mere humans definitely need the antioxidants.
