Circuit City sale! Literally. The entire business is now officially for
sale - name, brand, logo, superstores, parking lots, the works. The news isn't surprising, considering that the company filed for bankruptcy last November, citing a US$ 320 million loss. According to a source of Loot Ninja, if the business isn't sold by January 16, everything will be up for liquidation, and that means.... time to go shopping! Everything will be dirt cheap, and maybe you can finally bag that PlayStation 3 without going bankrupt yourself. Related Articles:

The close-out prices will make up for their lame Black Friday deals.

There is no source. Yaris Gutierrez has some explaining to do.
Also, don't expect a major liquidation when the time comes. After all, the banks still want what is due them.

» Actually...
The liquidation prices will go rock bottom, if the liquidated stores are any indictation. Problem is, anything like that Playstation 3 the writer cited will be gone with a quickness, long before the prices go rock bottom.

» Don't get sucked in...
I have watched several very large retail chains go out of business. Don't expect the prices to drop on current merchandise right away and if they do reduce, they'll start low, very low.
If they go out of business, a liquidation company will probably be contacted. Their job, is to get rid of all the stock for the most cash.
For the first week, big signs that say upto 50% off Liquidation. Nothing current will be on sale. The week after that the signs show 5-75% off. Your PS3 might be 5% off. The first generation Sony Nano cases will be 75% off.
After a couple weeks they'll make the sale 10-90% off. They found some clock radios out back that are also a can opener... 90% off. 10% off Video Games.
After a few more weeks, when most everything is picked over, 50-95% off. Expired batteries are now 95% off. Mario Bros 3 for Gameboy is now 50% off it's original price of .99. Some gramma buys that for the grandkids 'cause it's got Mario on the front.
People get sucked in thinking they'll be getting Nintendo DSs for or Xbox 360 for . It's unrealistic to expect huge discounts.

» Only decent sale I've been to
An F.Y.E music store where I live in WA is liquidating everything, and literally everything in the store is half off sticker price. Probably gonna jump to 75% off in the next few days, if it hasn't already, I haven't checked. So great deals on music and movies, but that's the only decent liquidation sale I've been to.

» Ah, the memories
It'd actually be slower than that, like 10 - 30, 20 - 40, etc. I've worked with the company that liquidated the first round of Circuit City stores that closed when they liquidated The Sharper Image locations. Let me tell you, our store was RAPED of most of the good stuff by the time prices got around 50%, and *all* the truly good stuff by 70%.

Yes I hope the economy gets worse so you can have your sale. Even your caturday talk couldnt make you look funny this time.

The dwindling economy brings a lot of hardships and challenges. However, you need to learn how to take advantage of such times. Sure, I could take it seriously, but the economy will not get any better for it.

Since they're going out of business... on their final day of business, just before they close, if someone does a little shoplifting, would they care?

I recently talked to my store manager we still hang out and he was informed that there is a potential buyer, he has no clue as of yet and there will be no drastic drop in prices because as stated above the bank wants their share back.
