Before, all you could do when you pull out your analog phone is call someone. Now cellphones are not only used for calling: gaming, browsing, checking your e-mails, and having a video conference are just some of the things you can do with phones.

Phone manufacturers and mobile service providers are now thinking of some other features that they could put in mobile phones. Phones can be transformed into handy digicams or organizers. Now you can use your mobile phones as credit cards.

This concept isn't new especially in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and other Asian countries which subscribe to this service. This service is also beginning to catch on in some countries in Europe and in the US. Visa and Mastercard have activated their contactless payment systems you can use with your transactions. Embedded chips are placed inside cellphones that are used for contactless payments. South Africa and Russia also have this service available.

Being used now as a "wallet," the mobile phone has certainly come a long way from just being a phone.
