Recently, Utah legislators discussed Bully for the PS2, calling it the "Columbine game" (in reference to the 1999 shootings at a Colorado high school) during a Utah House committee hearing for a proposed video game legislation. Over at GamePolitics, they wondered if this was a sign that anti-gaming propaganda spreads to the point that our lawmakers end up believing them - and if that's true, then that's cause for concern for all of us (that's why this article is cross-posted into several QJ gaming blogs). Olsen: I am not familiar with that game. (off-mic voice believed to be that of Wyatt): It's not? What's it rated? |

Everybody, please just trust in the game rating systems. Of course there might be a foul up with some extremely hidden content... but nothing in the industry is perfect anyways? So why expect the ESRB or any game rating company to be 100% accurate 100% of the time?
Secondly, the person who *decided* Bully was a "Columbine Simulator" was none other than Jack Thompson. Get this, he announced that BEFORE the game was even released! He never even played a minute of it and he still judged it as such. So why do people keep complaining about Bully being one (especially since their really IS the real SCMRPG, which is completely disturbing and wrong)?
Lastly, if you want to help regulate the sale of Mature rated video games to children. Don't try to pass an extremely vague bill such as the "Games as Porn" bill... Why not try to pass a bill that ONLY forces businesses that sell video games to display the Mature rated games in a separate section where only people 17+ or older can enter to browse (attendant takes ID and gives it back when they are done, exactly like how they manage Wiimote controllers in the store at EB Games and Gamestop)? This way kids cannot choose a mature game and go take it to their parents and beg them to buy it.
Classifying it at pornography will only restrict the sales to everybody because practically everybody that sells video games has a policy of ethics NOT to sell pornography in their stores, and that won't fix the problem one bit.
Exactly. I wonder if anybody who testifies before House Committee hearings have said the things you've said.
Anyone that goes on tv and crusades against a game that has not yet been released is an azzhole. then when the game was finally released he gave it the needed sales boost. surprise surprise i think the game is very tame. infact i would almost say that the game only got the T rating for mild violence/ comic mischeif.....it wasnt very violent and it wasnt shocking in the least. quite possibly the cleanest title with a rockstar logo attached...i wonder if jack thompson had a problem with the warriors game???? or did someone remind him that it is based on a moved that is 26 years old....
This game is bad. The bullies ?! Ugh! That's not so human and the company do not care about you. This is sick and disgusting. People who liked to play this games are not human also! What a pervert! Oh, this is just a game ? No, that's not true...this game is worsen I ever seen..since Playboy game. God do not liked that!
have you actually played the game you are someone who defends people against bullies and you yourself usually only fight when started on.
And why do you believe that you can judge other people so put your bible away and go back to the south.
