here's the original After all of the drama about adult film studios and the format wars, the porn industry finally has its first stake on the Blu-ray disc format: "Debbie Does Dallas Again". Vivid Entertainment has just announced that this title of theirs will be released in Blu-ray on March 28.

What's interesting to note here is that the porn flick will also be simultaneously on HD-DVD format for the same price. Both formats would be sold for US$ 39.95, even though production on the Blu-ray disc is thrice the cost of that on HD-DVD. So why the same price?

A spokesperson for Vivid Entertainment said that they "want to see which one the consumer prefers." They're releasing the Blu-ray disc for cheaper to test if it will really, err, boom on the market. If it does, then they continue production. If it doesn't... Well, we can only guess. After all, some have said that the porn industry would be the big decider between HD-DVD and Blu-ray.

But doesn't selling the HD-DVD title at a higher than usual remove the advantage of it actually being cheaper to produce and sell. I don't get it.

The porn industry is netorious for selling products WAAYY over production costs. dvd's are $35-$49I think a blu-ray for $40 is a deal! even if it is a movie from the 80's

 » Hi-Def Porn?

Seriously, why would people want to be able to see every pimple, wrinkle, and back hair?

Lo-Def is still the way to go.

But I do wonder how an old movie like Daisy Does Dallas will look in Blu-Ray...

720p seems to be the normal on the internet.

These days alot of internet websites are offering 720p videos and they seem to be a good choice.

when vhs won because of porn, the internet was just a glimmer in Al Gore's eye >:) with the net being what it is for the proliferation of porn, it won't make a big difference in the format wars. winner will be the one who gets systems out first, whether by console, console add-on, or stand-alone player

» HDTV is rubbish for normal TV broadcasts

And dont forget HDTVs are ***** if you want to watch anything that is not broadcast in HD i.e TV programs look blocky and washed out the closer you get the worse it looks, so HDTV is great if you want to watch a Film or play a game but normal TV viewing FORGET IT.

That is for a select few T.V.s
"Normal" tv broadcasts look just as good if not better on most HDTVs.

I have a 55" projection HD, 27" lcd hd, 19" lcd hd, 46" projection standard, and 3 19" crt standard; The HDTVs look better hands down on both standard and HD channels.

Noone that has a PS3 is going to buy this old A@@ porn anyways!!! Come on, VIVID is testing out the consumer? THEY above all should know that this movie is going to sell barely any copies, and should test it on a newer movie that everyone would want to buy, not this old crap.

 » look back and read....

It says "Deebie Does Dallas Again" which I'm guessing is a new movie, not the one from the 70's.
