Upcoming World of Warcraft 2.4 patch, revamping interface and combat logs - Image 1

Much noise was made in the World of Warcraft forums so that Blizzard would release information regarding the upcoming 2.4 patch. MVP poster Iriel was able to get hold on some of the nifty changes that will be taking place for the combat logging mechanism and the in-game interface options.

The combat logging mechanism is going to be completely overhauled. Highlights include detailed flags indicating the relationship of involved units to the player and unique identifiers for units with the same name within the combat log for easy log analysis.

The in-game interface options were also revamped, allowing people to modify the contents of  an AddOn without the taint issues presented by the current system. Also, this would provide an area for AddOn authors to present their own configuration options as well.

All these were also presented in a very technical manner by Blizzard representative Slouken. He was able to provide a sneak preview for curious individuals of that changes that will be taking place when the 2.4 patch comes out.
