WoW logo - Image 1Cheaters beware. A recent feeler has been released by the Blizzard team over at the official World of Warcraft site reminding players of the repercussions they will suffer if they use bots in their gameplay. Here reads the official announcement:

In the US and Europe, we recently banned several thousand accounts associated with the use of botting programs that fully automate player actions, such as killing and looting monsters. We take these attempts to bypass the rules and standards of the game extremely seriously, and we will continue to aggressively monitor all World of Warcraft realms in order to protect the service and its players from the negative effects of cheating.

On a related note, Blizzard has already proven to have a similar stance on gold farming, given that the activity was, as Blizzard's Itzik Ben Bassat explained, a problem in trying to maintain the concept of fair play in their MMORPG.
