Good day, WoW-heads. Your trusty WoW blogger is back again to bring you this slightly old but really hot news in the World of Warcraft community. Following Blizzard's official stand on eligibility on the part of Arena contestants in the recently concluded Ladders round of the Arena Tournament, many top qualifying Arena teams have been eliminated and disqualified from entering the Arena Regionals round.

World of Warcraft Arena Tournament scandal ensues - Image 1

Sparking controversy among two sides of the community, the scandal has become even more of a highlight as compared to the Arena Tournament as a whole. We've been watching the recent activity in the official announcement thread by drooling Ent Drysc, and there's a lot of opinion clashes from the side of Blizzard fanboys and disgruntled Arena competitors.

In the thread, Drysc highlighted what certain factors lead to the disqualification of the top Arena teams in each battlegroup, some of which are still very vague. All teams that have qualified will have received an email notification stating that you (as a member of the team) have qualified for the Regionals. The reasons are as follows:
  • Did not have a valid World of Warcraft Account at the time of qualification determination
  • Are not from a country that is eligible for the Arena Tournament. (The ZERG IT DOWN issue makes this rule vague.)
  • Did not participate in enough games to qualify for the Arena Tournament. (No mention in the rules for minimum number of games required to play.)
  • Did not have enough eligible team members to qualify for the Arena Tournament.
We'll be looking for more clarifications on the disqualification considerations as they come up. Stay tuned folks!
