Fallout 3 - Image 1

With much of this gaming generation's highly-anticipated titles either still being made or being hit repeatedly with the delay stick, it's certainly no surprise that fans resort to clamoring for the next best thing: demos, or playable bite-sized portions of the games about to come out. We can say the same thing about Fallout 3 for the Microsoft Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation 3 and the PC, with its promise to get us back into that post-apocalyptic nirvana that its predecessors dunked us all in.

Unfortunately, a demo might not be forthcoming - at least, that's the vibe we're getting from Bethesda Softworks.

In the game's official message boards, Bethesda Community Manager Matt Grandstaff made a post that discusses demos, and how they're made for other games. With Fallout 3's unique gameplay, it's going to be more difficult to make a demo of it, as the question of where to cut the player's experience off arises. He then talks about how he'd much rather like to spend the tedious effort and time it takes to make a demo for the game on making the retail version better. This part of his post, taken as is:

If we were doing a demo, there'd be a lot of time spent on deciding where a user could go, what quests to include, etc. For Fallout 3, we'd rather commit the time that can be used for delivering a demo into spending more time working on the final product.

Of course, this is followed up with him saying that it'd be nice to have a demo, which overall doesn't really give confirmation nor deny anything - only that while the possibility of a demo for Fallout 3 is still there, it's probably not going to happen.

Then again, it doesn't hurt to be optimistic, right? Fingers crossed.

I'm getting kinda sick of Devs saying their game is too big/immersive for a demo. Just give us on quest or mission or something, I mean demo's can change people's minds about your game. Look at Saints Row, most people figured it was just going to be 'another GTA ripoff' then the demo was released and lots of people had found out how wrong they were! Same goes for Bioshock, I even was going to pass on it figuring it was just another Sci-Fi Shooter and it ended up being so much more
