I agree...I just got used to the name! I think changing it would be more damaging now. They'd have to change their official site, people would be confused, etc...
Then again they could just change it back to Revolution. But introducing a third name would be stupid in my opinion.
I don't really mind the name wii, but if there has to be another change, why not name it Nintendo Neon? it's so perfect and not childish or anything like that. nintendo could use the disc slot as a reason for the name, saying it's related to the neon light where the disc slot is.
I think it should stay the Wii. Anyone who accosiates the name with urine is childish and should not be taken seriously when it comes to a multimillion dollar corporations dicision on what to call THEIR system. Who cares if it sounds childish. Hello PLAYstation. When i was in kindergarden we had a playstation. It consisted of a kitchen table and the little fake cooking area. It was called our playstation. Now that name is huge.
The name should stay. If it doesn't, id go back with revolution.
They should keep the name Wii.
Whoever judges the system by it's name are complete retards.
Nintendo GameZone, Nintendo FutureNation and Nintendo GlobalBOX those names SUKKK!!
Those names sound just as childish. "GameZone"? *****.
The president himself says he stands by Wii!
But changinf now would be weird. Unless they go back to Revolution!
Although I don't think product awareness outside the gaming industry has grown enough for a name change to damage the system, because let's face it in another week we would be used to the third name and the rest of the people would never have heard the old names enough to remember that it even had a another name.
They should change it to the nin. Nine inch nails might sue though, but the nintendo nin sound perfect.
When I heard the name, sure I was a little freaked out about it a little. But now I am used to it and I keep calling it that, I maybe even can say I like the name.
Revolution or Wii, its too late for anything else. I quite like Wii myself.
bull*****. The name Wii is staying.
I hated "Wii" at first, now I have grown to love this name. It's great, no abreviations, it actually has meaning, and if they change it now... What else might they change?! Plus it's a little to late in the game to do that!
when ninntendo first revealed the new name i admit i was a bit skeptical and wondered why, but after hearing the reasoning behind the name it got me thinking that it was a name change for the better and that i actually liked it and know that the name has grown and me and probably tons of other people it would be too confusing if a third name be added to the picture.
keep the name if people don't buy something based on its name then they are terrible judges when it comes to picking the right system to get.....
We now want Wii!
CHANGE THE NAME NINTENDO .. Half the people dont even know what a wii is yet and when they find out they will laugh.. and
get a ps3 just casue there cooler. and nintendo will be bagged for having a crap name, buying a nintendo wii would be the
uncool thing!
I love NINTENDO REVOULTION
Not NINTENDO WII ..
change the name
do the right thing!
This is f'n ridiculous. Rumors like this are stupid. It's not news, it's just a lie. Rumor, speculation, and utter crap. Please don't post something like this in the future, all it leads to is people getting angry or annoyed (like myself) and that just lowers the reliability of your news.
This must be a false rumour.
Why on hell would Nintendo change Wii -after all that ultrashort-abbrevationofitself stuff- for something like Nintendo GameZone, Nintendo FutureNation or Nintendo GlobalBOX?
Forget it.
We love Wii already.
yeah wii sounds gay and besids aaron playstation can be associated with way more things than just a kiddie place making it ok and i agree with #1 a third name now would be retarded but changing it back to revolution would be one of the best decisions ever so yeah nitendo if you r reading this change it back to revolution please!
it's just a marketing skam to prove how successful the name change has been.
When they first announced it all the comments on the net were negative.
Now everyone is used to it and they like it.
Nintendo is milking the whole name thing for all its worth.. good on them,
I mean a name change now would just be hard for everyone. I myself have gotten use to the name and i kinda think its fun. I mean who doesn't like seeing an article entitled "A Wii Change For Nintendo" ROFL I think it should just stay wii from now on. Although I did like nintendo revolution
Has anyone actually ever used the name of the nintendo system they're using? I never remember saying "I'm gonna go play N64" or "Lets play GameCube"; It's ALWAYS been "We're playing Nintendo". That's the way it will be with this system too. If you're trying to tell someone who doesn't play videogames about the next gen systems, you don't say "PS3, XBOX360, and Wii". The response you get if you say that is "WTF, is Nintendo not making a new system?" (Seriously, try it). Nintendo changes the name of their system with every single console; have they really done anything different this time? They're just using this name to create a "controversy buzz" for their new system; it's a trick to create interest, and it's working brilliantly. Hope you hardcore ninty fans are planning on waiting in long lines when this thing gets released (because you REALLY don't want to wait til Christmas, they'll all be gone).
I was a HUGE hater of the "Wii" name when it was first announced; now it isn't a big deal. All Nintendo need to do is do some proper advertising, and people will get used to it. Not to mention that making a change like that at this point would be a very "Playstation" thing to do.
But yes, I do think they should change it.
I'm sure Nintendo will go through all the trouble of renaming it because kids like #16 and #19 call it gay and post ***** jokes on qj.net.
I mean i don't plan on getting a Nintendo anything anyway, but i think that they should just change it back to the "Nintendo Revolution" hows that for a good name?
I'm used to the Wii name now, but they should've kept Revolution.
Nintendo is Childish and so is this system so I mean the name sounds right to me :P.
They going to call it Poo......
the poomote.....
Mario Galaxy Poo...
Just leave it at Wii.... we hated at first now we are used to it... why change it???..... feel bad now?
Those names suck balls more than Wii. This is obviously BS, stop reporting it! 'Someone at Nintendo'? Don't make me laugh! More like 'some 12 year old in china'!
