ssf4-thumbEagle-eyed Street Fighter fans who tuned in to Capcom and Famitsu's live stream demo of Super Street Fighter IV late this week have unearthed an interesting rumor nugget from the game's character select menu: there will be ten additional characters in total, and four of them have yet to be revealed.

psn-thumbHere's something to pique your curiosity. Sony has gone and filed a US trademark for something called "Qriosity." In keeping with the strange spellings and pronunciations of the Xross Media Bar and Qore, that's pronounced "curiosity." They've also started to send out feelers to gauge gamer reaction on possible premium PSN services.

zeschuck-thumb"Innovation" is one of those buzzwords we hear every now and then in the games industry. Which games or consoles innovated the most? Which ones didn't? According to BioWare co-founder Greg Zeschuck, JRPGs as a whole have been guilty of being stagnant for the past few years.

mag_shortGood news, Europe. You won't have to wait too long to join North America in all the MAG shooting action next year. Zipper Interactive and Sony have dated the 256-player multiplayer shooter's European release.

ffv13-thumbKingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep wasn't the only game Square Enix showed off at this year's Jump Festa. They also brought along Final Fantasy Versus XIII. All the Final Fantasy XIII hoopla may have put it out of your mind, but it's coming and, as reports have it, it's looking pretty damn good.

Kudos to Casey for the tip!

Busy, busy week on the QJ.NET PS3 blog. The 2009 VGAs last weekend opened up a flood of new game announcements, and the mid-week release of Final Fantasy XIII in Japan also led to lots of traffic on the blog. Great week for fans of the long-running RPG series, really. It was also nice to see a few special editions announced for Europe. European gamers have been getting the short end of the stick long enough. Hit the jump for the PS3 Weekend Warrior.

2009's winding down, and while there's not any time left for an excellent PSP game to come out this year, next year promises to be another good haul software-wise. We got updates upon updates on 2010 games this week, including one that I really wish I hadn't heard about: Dead or Alive: Paradise. Just when I thought that iPhone black jack game was bad enough, Tecmo goes and surprises me.

It's good to see PSP homebrew developers are still banging away at providing updates for their homemade applications and games for Sony's handheld. It's a mostly thankless job, but really, lots of kudos to these excellent men and women (there are female homebrew devs, you know). Anyway, this week we got a new update for the GEN CFW, a couple of new emulator revisions, and more applications to turn your PSP into a jack of all trades. Hit the jump for the rest of this week's PSP Homebrew Weekend Warrior.

Xbox 360 Weekend Warrior - Image 1The year 2009 may be winding down, but the news for the Xbox 360 world shows no signs of stopping. Final Fantasy XIII has launched in Japan, and it won't be long till it heads to Western shores. How's it faring so far in the East? We hear it's doing well. Very, very well. More Natal talk is up and about too. Check out the happenings in this week's Xbox 360 Weekend Warrior after the jump.

halo-3-odst-logoSo why did Bungie forego the inclusion of downloadable content for Halo 3: ODST? If you've been pondering on that question, now's the time to rest your weary mind as Bungie explains the answer.
