Ó

Magixien has posted an important announcement on PSPGen's site regarding the release of their much-awaited 5.03GEN-B for HEN (PSP-3000). Unfortunately, it's been delayed due to a "last minute bug".

5.03GEN-B bug - Image 1

Not to worry, though. The delay won't be for too long, and the bug isn't that much of a problem. It's actually just a recovery bug, and it appeared last night. As Magixien explains;

This is not a problem with the CFW but a recovery bug. If you remember, the recovery of 5.03GEN-A already had a problem: all option lines were shuffled. The correction of this problem comes with another bug in some options like the "use version.txt" which doesn't work anymore and prevents the launch of the MGS.

Between a partial release with a quick future update and an actual full working release, they opted on the latter. As such, you will be getting the release tomorrow night. It's just for a little while, so I'm sure you guys can wait it out.

Thanks to cmbeke for the tip!

They not just releasing it buggy and untested this time, they still got some way before i trust their cfw but delaying release for testing does help.

Honestly, I don't see why everyone is so hesitant to move off M33. Gen is offering up fairly solid releases that deal with the most recent Sony fixes, whereas M33 hasn't done anything notable in months. Back when the first CFW's were coming out and the only one making them was the relatively unknown Dark_alex, everyone was gung-ho to get the benefits of the latest OFW with homebrew, despite the fact that there was a real possibility of bricking - and that was before we had Pandora as a cure-all. I know loyalty counts, but at some point, the programmers need to show some loyalty to the followers too. M33 should either admit that it's out of the game, or announce that they intend to release something, because sitting on the fence just puts splinters up your ass.

Fairly good isn't good enough for me, i don't bother with themes, loads of extra options or anything like that, i just want the most stable cfw that has the best homebrew compatability, and unless GEN does a cfw with features i really need or do a very stable version i got no need to update just for the sake of updating, but i'm very willing to change when i find it.

 » i'll update...

when i am sure that all of the homebrew that i use will be compatible, all the bugs in the f/w have been completely worked out, when gen has some good cxmb themes and a ms speedhack available, and it offers some sort of feature/s i need that m33 5.00-6 doesnt have. im definitely not knocking gen, especially since team m33 has been so inactive and silent lately, im just saying that im not going to update just for the sake of updating. as for the gen hen f/w for 3000's, if i had a 3000 it would be a must-have for sure. i bet theres gonna be a ton of people checking qj regularly til the release
