Funcom has announced one rather impressive bit of news for Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures. The company sent out a press release stating that the Collector’s Edition of Age of Conan is now completely sold out in all markets.

According to Funcom's announcement, 111,000 Collector's Edition units have also been sold, with some markets having sold their Age of Conan Collector's Edition units weeks ago.

Funcom has also announced that, due to the high pre-order numbers for the game, they'll be shipping out 700,000 copies of Age of Conan on the first day of release.

Morten Larssen, Funcom’s VP of Sales & Marketing, had this to say about consumer response to their game:

Everyone in Funcom is delighted and humbled with the historical pre-order numbers for Age of Conan. If the information we have is correct, they represent the highest pre-order number for any global launch of an original PC game, ever, including the original World of Warcraft launch.

Age of Conan will be released on May 20 in North America/Oceania and May 23 in Europe.

UPDATE: According to news gathered from official press channels, Funcom has delayed the launch of the DirectX 10 version of Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures until ready.

The company says that the initial launch copies preceding the DX10 release will all be DX9 only, though the first DX10 version will be premiered at Leipzig, Germany on August 20-24.

The trade-off for the delay will be more features incorporated to the Vista-only version - even more features than the company originally planned. Updates as we get them.
