Right now, there's about a bajillion and a half things we can say about this video. But before the frenzy of raving cuteness and giggles start gushing out of our blog-o-sphere pores, we just have to tell you that this is a fan video. It wasn't made by Nintendo, even though it looks remarkably like it came straight out of the game itself (believe me, I initially thought it was).

By the title alone, you'd know that it's a Wii adventure. The two-minute video from Dan Flynn features Link and Aryll from the cel-shaded toony lands of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. In it, Aryll finds a curious little something-something while she's fishing over a cliff. Unbeknownst to Link, this mysterious artifact spells utter chaos for him (and a piglet). We won't spoil it for you guys, so just watch the video.

It's hilarious, it's cute; it can actually even pass off as an ad for the Wii! Now without further ado, here's the "frenzy of raving cuteness and giggles" we've promised:

Nintendo would be remiss to drop the cel-shaded franchise entirely. I would gladly purchase Twilight Princess AND a cel-shaded Zelda a la Wind Waker. It's a beautiful piece of gaming art, and it was popular enough to be copied by Sony for Okami (with Wii-style control functions to boot).

Look up Phantom Hourglass for the DS to satisfy your lust for cel shaded Link.

awesome, well done, entertaining. i personally didn't enjoy the cell shaded look (nor did i enjoy boating everywhere) but that was real fun to watch.

@ Tree

as much as i love nintendo and zelda, sony did not copy them (this time) for several reasons. its not like wind waker was the first cel-shaded game (jet grind radio was) and the game was made by clover studios, not sony.

Accusing Okami of "copying" cel-shading is still silly..
A *****load of games used it.

Okami looked much nicer than Wind Waker, anyway....

 » Very Fun!!

What a brilliant little video. I loved Wind Waker. It was the first time that I felt like I was really on an adventure in a video game. I loved sailing around and exploring the world. This little video made me smile for 2 reasons:

1) It promotes the Wii, and I can't wait for it to come out!!

2) It brought back memories of one of my favorite games on Gamecube.

Thanks for sharing this with us!

 » Cool

Nice to see people comparing Okami to Wind Waker. No one adds the fact that Okami was a much, much better game than the Wind Waker without a Zelda Prefix. The Wind Waker was a cheap fix for Zelda fans, although still a great game, not a true Zelda game.

 » cheap fix?

Well I am a big zelda fan, and I personally don't think wind waker is a cheap fix, I consider it a great piece of art and one of the greatest zelda games ever.

I hope this doesn't put any ideas in miyamotos
head,

(i didn't like wind waker) (the cel shading and the fact that it was short annoyed me)

This is a beautiful piece of work well done Dan Flynn. He really captured the world of "Wind Waker".

» hahah i knew someone was going to do this!

Great use of the extractors for the 3models not bad for the creator and its source!

wind waker and okami are 2 fifferent types of cel-shaded art. one (wond waker) has a great toon feel to it and the other (Okami) looks like coligraphy on a scroll. both very nice indeed. there was no "copying" between the two. link and amaterazu rule!!!!!

 » Great Skit

The part at the very end had me falling out of my chair!

That would make an awesome commercial for the Wii; Nintendo should use it.

And Okami and Wind Waker are two different games, and neither 'copied' the style of the other. Anybody who says any different is just blind and arrogant to their own fanboyism.
